More Marvellous Maths

Here is our maths problem for today.

We had to think about the important parts of the problem - 5 bears, 3 buttons.  Then we had to decide how we would show our working out.  Some people drew the bears and buttons and some people used bears and counters.

Working collaboratively to help solve the problem.

Using equipment to solve the problem.

How did you solve it and what answer did you get?

Some people had an extra challenge.

Can you solve the problem now?

Jessica and Zara counted out 24 beans for the buttons.

They then worked together to make groups of 3.

It was a good challenge.

Can you think of a different problem using bears and buttons?

Maths Problem Solving

Today at maths we tried to solve this problem ...

We could work by ourselves, in pairs or in groups.  We had to think about the main ideas in the problem.  Some people had to think about counting the right number of people.  Some people had to think about how to make the pattern.

We had to think about the best way to solve the problem.  Should we draw it?  Should we make it with equipment? Or was there another way to solve the problem.

Can you solve the problem?

Look at the way we worked to try to solve the problem - we did so much maths and it was fun.  We wonder what the problem will be tomorrow?

Making the pattern with cubes.

Drawing the shirts.

Making the pattern with teddies.

Using cubes to make the pattern.

Counting how many t.shirts there were.

Making the pattern and solving the problem.

Counting together.

Learning together.

Making the pattern with cubes.
